Stroud business recruits two more well-qualified women

6th May 2016

MYA Consulting, the Stroud-based catering consultancy with an international reputation has just recruited two new members to its high-powered team. Chloe Jones has been working for local Stroud MP Neil Carmichael since 2013, latterly as his Senior Communications Officer. A graduate of the Arts Educational School in Tring Chloe was a professional dancer in her youth but has joined MYA to strengthen the firm's marketing and communications skills.

Rifka Spencer is a recent graduate from The Royal Agricultural University, Cirencester where she gained a degree in Food Production and Supply Management. She has been recruited to reinforce the menu and technical design aspects of MYA's operations.

The new recruits join a company founded by John and Margaret Young in 1992 which has been run by their daughter Carla McKenzie since 1996. Managing Director Carla said, “We are proud of the fact that MYA is a company where women already have key roles and where young women can develop and follow good careers. We are providing new opportunities for well-qualified women and men. Chloe and Rifka will provide more strength and breadth to our team's skills; with the addition of their communications and technical abilities we have further enhanced the unique service we can offer to our expanding portfolio of national and international clients.”

Ms McKenzie is certainly not a typical Managing Director but makes an interesting role model. She inherited a passion for motorcycles from her parents, who still both ride in their seventies. Carla has several bikes, from a Ducati 888 modern classic sports machine to a lightweight AJP 250 trailbike and last year did an 1800 mile charity trail ride from John O'Groats to Land's End on a British-built CCM GP450 in aid of the Dougie Dalzell Memorial Trust. McKenzie again, “Every member of the MYA team is expected to do something for charity at least once a year and thereby to contribute to the community in which we live and work.”
