I have worked with MYA Consulting on two projects for Our Lady’s Senior School Abingdon, the first being a reimagining of the main catering facility for the full school to enable an expanding school roll and the other an alternative café-style offer for senior students and staff.

The spatial constraints on the school’s main kitchen and dining facilities were considerable and MYA used creativity and experience to create additional seating capacity while at the same time reducing the space requirements of the catering equipment and back of house facilities. The school had originally considered a significant and costly extension to generate sufficient space for the increased student cohort. MYA Consulting were able to demonstrate that by re-configuring the catering offer, including a separate café-style opportunity for senior staff, the entire remodelling could be undertaken within the footprint of the existing building.

The first phase of delivery is now complete with the café-bar facility located within the main school reception area having proved a roaring success, so much so that it has been possible to defer the remodelling of the main kitchen facilities for a year or two.

MYA offer imagination and creativity in catering design and will bring a critical eye to a catering project, open challenging established ways of thinking to generate new, more productive and more cost-efficient solutions.
